Portable Easy Quote (PEQ)

Description
PEQ is kinda like the BSD game fortune. It basically randomly selects a quote from it's huge database and prints it on the screen. I know that doesn't sound all that exciting but it's pretty cool, actually.
If you already have fortune, read this (otherwise skip to the next paragraph):
Fortune is a pretty cool program but (in my opinion) far from perfect. First of all it includes lots of stuff which is are even vaguely funny or thought provoking.
Also I promise to update PEQ as often as I can (ideally every Friday I'll post a new peq.lib up). Plus, I'm accepting contributions. Just e-mail me a quote and (if I like it) I will put in along with your name - instant fame can be yours! :)

News
5/6/1999 - I've gotten tons of letters telling me that PEQ's installation is poorly documented and they can't install it. Yes, I know I'm sorry. PEQ's first release was just a month ago and I've had tons of work plus a machine change AND and isp change and I've really got too much stuff to worry about. Sorry, I'll fix up PEQ as soon as I can. In the meantime keep mailing me with all problems you come across. Thanks for understanding.
5/5/1999 - Last update of the main program - version 0.7.3.
5/4/1999 - Last update of the PEQ Quote Library (peq.lib) - version 050499.
4/2/1999 - PEQ was ported to FreeBSD by Gordon Greeff.
Note: If you want to be notified when PEQ or the PEQ Library is updated click here (this will pop-up your mail client, just hit send!).

Download
PEQ orginally was written for Linux but was ported to FreeBSD by Gordon Greeff. If you've managed to compile (and run) PEQ on any other platform, please e-mail me, I'm really interested! XPEQ requires Qt. Except for Qt (for XPEQ) you need to download the main program (PEQ) and the PEQ Quote Library (peq.lib). The latest version can always be found at Fortunecity. Some of the mirrors may take a few days to update.

(I'm in dire need of mirrors - so if you can help, please e-mail me).

A Little History
In case you're wondering... PEQ currently stands for Portable Easy Quote. If you think that's the lamest excuse for an acronym that you've ever heard then you're right! :) PEQ originally meant Perl Easy Quote because PEQ was originally written in Perl. But because the program is now written in C++, so the title didn't make much sense. Anyways, after some thought I kept the acronym but changed it's meaning.

To Do
Lots! First of all, if you have any cool quotes then don't hesitate e-mail them to me. Now that we got that out of the way. I want to build some quote editing abilities in PEQ as well as a keyword search engine (and if I get access to a CGI server then I will make an online search engine for peq.lib). If you have any other ideas, please e-mail me.

Bugs
My program doesn't have any bugs (only undocumented features! :) Seriously though, currently I haven't discovered any bugs. If you do stumble by one (or two) - then drop me a line, please.

A Few Notes
This program is not a product of my genius alone. A friend of mine Kimon Kodosis helped me tremendously and has created an extension of PEQ. Soon these two will be joined to form PEQ: The Next Generation. Kidding! OK, they will be joined but you won't notice unless you're interested in using features like "find duplicate quotes", "keyword search" and so on.
Special thanks to Tricia Newbre, who wrote about PEQ at User Friendly, and Cloister Bell who actually listened to my programming problems without falling into a coma. :)
